UNIT 57: Magazine photography

Mood board:

Mind map:

Pitch:

Evaluation:

For my photography piece I used my opportunity of being able to go to Venice in the near future a few days after the project was set. I decided to create a series of images suitable for a travel photography magazine.

During pre production I researched the hotel I was going to be staying at and decided what I should take pictures of that were close by and wrote it down I also brought a map and two travel guide books that would give me other options to choose from so I could take pictures of the tourist parts and the local sights.

While I waited for the my leaving date I searched online for inspiration for colours and angles that showed the true Venetian lifestyle while staying true to my own personal style. I found that I enjoyed the photos that had one or two points of focus and a geometrical layout and had strong, bold colours that popped out.

After I got back from Venice I looked through the photos and discarded the ones I did not like and using an online photo editor called Pixlr I cropped and enhanced the colours of I did before uploading it to my blog.

I felt that I could’ve taken more pictures with a variation of subjects as I stuck mostly to buildings and the canals and I felt that a lot of my shorts were poorly done and rushed.

In conclusion while I enjoyed taking travel photography pictures I need to use more variations in subjects but I’m pleased with the outcome and how my pictures came out after editing.

  1. Really nice colours, nice shots and interesting framing. I like how it's like travel photography and it's informative to viewers on what Venice is like :)
